These graspable, squeezable little bears are part of a bigger plan I have to crochet a little mountain-themed play set as a gift for a sweet little boy in my life, (in the mean time, my son thinks they're pretty special!) so stay tuned for the related posts coming up in the next few weeks!
This is a really simple amigurumi project. It's crocheted in the round in one piece, using chains and bobble stitches to make the ears, feet and tail. No sewing involved at all!
Medium Level 4 yarn in desired colours
Size 4.0mm crochet hook
SC = Single Crochet
CH = Chain
SC DEC = Single Crochet Decrease
Row 1: Using nose colour, 6 SC in magic ring.
Row 2: SC in first stitch, 2 SC in next, repeat around (9 SC)
Row 3: SC in each stitch around. (9 SC) Tie off.
Row 4: Join body colour in next stitch. CH 1, 2 SC into same stitch. 2 SC into each stitch around (18 SC)
Row 5: SC in first stitch, 2 SC in next all the way around (27 SC)
Rows 6, 7: SC in each stitch around. (27 SC)
Row 8: CH 6, SC into the next stitch. SC 3, CH 6, SC into next stitch, SC 7, bobble stitch, SC 3, bobble stitch, SC 9.
Now that the ears and feet are there, attach safety eyes, and use black yarn and a yarn needle to sew a nose on.
Row 9, 10, 11: SC in each stitch around, but SC into the back loop only of the stitches at either end of CH6s. (27 SC)
Row 12: SC 14, bobble stitch, SC 3, bobble stitch, SC 8
Row 13: SC 4, CH 3, SC into first CH (to make a picot) SC into next stitch, and SC into each stitch to end (27 SC)
Row 14: SC DEC, SC, SC DEC back loops only behind picot, [SC, SC DEC] Repeat around. (18 SC) Stuff with stuffing.
Row 15: [SC DEC all the way around] Repeat until one stitch remains. Tie off, and use a yarn needle to thread the tail of yarn back into the body.
