We are counting down until the Easter bunny comes to our house! While we wait, my little one is having so much fun playing with these adorable pastel and cream crocheted Easter eggs. She loves pretending it's Easter and collecting eggs in her basket, and after Easter they can go right in with her play food and pretend kitchen toys!
Will the Easter Bunny be bringing some crocheted Easter eggs this weekend? They are so quick and easy to make. Happy Easter!
Easter Eggs/Play Food Eggs Pattern:
sc = single crochet
st = stitch
dec = decrease
Hook: 3 mm
Yarn: Medium 4 in assorted pastel and cream colours
Make a slipknot and ch 2.
Round 1: Insert hook into the first chain stitch (second chain from hook) and sc 6 times into the same stitch. Put a stitch marker on the last stitch of the round now and throughout pattern to keep track of your rounds. Pull tightly on the tail to close the centre of the circle. Alternatively, make a magic ring and sc 6 inside the ring, pulling the tail to close the centre hole.
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12 total)
Round 3: (1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (18)
Round 4-5: 1 sc in each st around (18)
Round 6: (1 sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st) repeat around (24)
Round 7-8: sc in each st around (24)
Round 9: (sc in next 2 st, dec) around (18). This is where I like to turn it inside out so that the right side is facing out.
Round 10-11: sc in each st around (18)
Round 12: (sc in next st, dec) around (12)
Round 13: (sc in next st, dec) around (8). Stuff the egg at this point with enough stuffing to make the egg nice and firm.
Round 14: (sc in next 2 st, dec) around (6). Fasten off.
Using a yarn needle, weave through the remaining stitches, pull tight to close up the hole. Pass the yarn tail through the middle of the hole you just closed and out the side of the egg (pictured above), cut.
